This piece by Christian Paix is a unique mixed media sculpture measuring 150 cm high, 80 cm wide, and 34 cm deep. The piece depicts a lively factory scene, designed as a wall-mounted miniature world.
The metal staircase rises through the centre, immediately drawing the viewer’s eye upward. At its base, a machine sits beside a tall green locker. Pipes and lights climb alongside the staircase, creating movement and structure. Three figures occupy the scene, positioned at different spots. Each one pauses to eat, capturing a moment of break-time. Their stylized, illustrative forms add charm and character, enhancing the narrative quality of the sculpture.
A large wooden frame surrounds the composition, containing the scene while giving the impression of peering into a contained world. Behind the factory, a frosted window conceals the lighting. The illumination highlights details and layers, emphasizing the depth of the machinery, staircases, and pipes. Shadows and light interplay across the figures, adding dynamism and energy.
Paix skilfully combines found objects, sculptural forms, and functional lighting. The mix of media creates contrast between textures, colours, and materials. At the same time, the lighting adds warmth and draws attention to the smallest details. Together, these elements create a whimsical, yet industrial tableau. The viewer experiences a moment of daily life within a miniature factory, transformed into a vibrant, engaging, and visually striking artwork.

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
