Hanging Peacock by Sean Crampton, Fabricated and Brazed Bronze, Unique, Animals and Birds sculpture
Hanging Peacock by Sean Crampton is an abstract and contemporary bronze sculpture, no larger than 1 meter in size. The piece depicts a stylized peacock in mid-display. The bird’s head, body, and wings extend outward, while a curved bar at the back end acts as a hanger. This design allows the peacock to hang dynamically, emphasizing its form.
Crampton uses bronze to simplify the peacock’s shape while adding texture. Welding marks and lines run across the surface, giving the sculpture a raw, industrial quality. Some areas, like the face and tail feathers, are left open as frames, creating an airy feel. In contrast, the body and wings are solid and more defined.
The sculpture retains its natural bronze color, with a slightly rough texture throughout. Gaps between metal pieces add to the tactile nature of the piece, enhancing its handcrafted look. The contrast between the fluidity of the peacock’s form and the rigid, industrial aspects of the material creates a striking visual effect.
Overall, Hanging Peacock blends abstraction with detailed craftsmanship. It offers a contemporary, bold interpretation of the peacock, captivating viewers with its unique design and texture.
