This piece by Robert Glen is a bronze sculpture mounted on a polished slab of black marble, it captures three pelicans soaring together in graceful motion.
The birds rise in unison, their wings spread wide as they turn slightly in different directions. Each pelican appears mid-flight, yet the trio remains connected through their overlapping forms. Their bodies stack upward, creating height and rhythm while maintaining a sense of harmony and shared movement. The composition gives the impression of a single, fluid motion suspended in bronze.
Beneath the lowest bird, a subtle sculpted wave supports the group, grounding them on the marble base while hinting at the water below. This gentle detail adds balance and context, tying the birds’ ascent to their natural environment.
The pelicans’ forms are realistic in proportion but stylised in texture. Clear sculpting lines, indents, and cutaways define the feathers and wings, adding energy and structure to their shapes. The bronze finish enhances light and shadow, giving each surface depth and vitality.
Flight of Pelicans celebrates motion, unity, and natural grace. Glen’s composition captures the strength of flight and the fluid rhythm of the flock, creating a sculpture that feels both dynamic and timeless.

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
