Emerging by Hongxun Jin is a unique marble sculpture, measuring 109cm high, 115cm wide, and 62cm deep. The piece presents a figure gradually forming within a rough, raw block of marble.
The sculpture begins with a rugged, roughly squared mass. Its edges remain jagged and uneven, emphasizing the untouched, natural quality of the stone. From one side of this uncut rock, a smooth figure begins to emerge. The form is small and bobby, curling gently around itself, nestling into a shallow indent in the rock. This emerging shape feels organic, almost like life slowly taking shape from the stone itself.
The carved portion contrasts sharply with the raw rock. It is finely smoothed and polished, revealing the marble’s natural white and black veining. These marbling patterns add depth and movement, guiding the eye along the curves of the emerging figure. The contrast between polished form and rough rock emphasizes the transformative process, suggesting a narrative of creation or awakening.
The overall composition balances abstraction and figuration. The figure is suggestive rather than fully defined, leaving space for interpretation while maintaining a sense of gentle motion and organic growth. The raw and polished textures interact dynamically, reinforcing the tension between nature and artistic intervention.
Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
