Drinking Horse by Taurai Maisiri is a Shona opal stone sculpture, measuring 102cm high, 23cm wide, and 26cm deep. The piece captures a horse bending down to drink, its head touching the base, which immediately draws the viewer’s focus. The head is slightly truncated along the neck, emphasizing its downward motion. This positioning guides the eye from the tip of the nose up along the smooth lines of the neck and back.
The horse’s eyes look downward, while its ears tilt back, conveying both concentration and calm. Its mane and forelock lie flat against the figure, with subtle sculpted lines suggesting texture. These details add depth and definition, while keeping the overall form elegant and simple. Furthermore, the posture communicates stillness and natural grace.
The sculpture is fully smoothed and polished, allowing the opal’s deep green tones to shine vividly. The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
