Andrew Sinclair’s Condottiere is a powerful bronze resin sculpture that explores themes of strength, mortality, and myth. Standing at 85 cm high, the piece presents the head of a helmeted warrior, a striking male figure, positioned above a dramatic totemic base. This base includes a human skull, a stylized face, and a bird, likely a raven.
The title Condottiere refers to the mercenary leaders of Renaissance Italy. Sinclair draws from this legacy of martial power and stoic resolve. The warrior’s expression is proud and distant, his face framed by an ornate helmet. The design hints at both ancient warfare and mythical legend.
Beneath the warrior, the skull represents death and sacrifice. In contrast, the bird adds a symbolic layer, often linked to omens, transformation, or messages from beyond. Together, these elements create a story of conflict, passage, and hidden forces.
Moreover, the sculpture’s rich bronze finish brings each texture to life. The polished surfaces of the armour contrast with the rawness of bone and the delicate detailing of feathers. This tactile variation adds depth and drama to the piece.

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
