Circus Seal by David Norris, signed edition 1 of 8, is a bronze sculpture measuring 34cm high, 28cm wide, and 17cm deep. The piece shows a circus seal balancing a ball on its nose. The seal rests on a flat rock, its body smoothed and curved to highlight strong lines rather than heavy detail. This simplicity creates focus on the posture and motion.
The seal lifts its head high, nose pointed upward. At the very tip, a ball balances neatly, becoming the centre of attention. The upward tilt gives the piece energy, as though the seal is mid-performance. The contrast between the solid base and the delicate balance of the ball strengthens this feeling of motion and skill.
