This unique sculpture of a large bee is cleverly made from lead, steel and wood.
The Combining of steel, lead, and wood requires careful and creative craftsmanship. Martyn has thoughtfully balanced these diverse materials to create a beautifully cohesive piece. During the process the metals are welded and riveted together. The wood has been carved and shaped enable to fit this design.
The neutral colours of this piece, mean this sculpture would be a striking addition to both public and private spaces, such as gardens, nature reserves, galleries, or even in a home as a conversation piece. There’s a superstition about bees “If a bee flies into the house it is a sign of great good luck, however, the luck will only hold if the bee is allowed to either stay or to fly out of the house of its own accord.
