Venetian by Geoff Jones stands as a commanding abstract sculpture that merges precision engineering with lyrical movement. Rising to 235 centimeters high, this work transforms powder coated stainless steel into a dynamic study of balance, rhythm, and form. Jones arranges slate like lengths of metal into a fanned out configuration that rolls gracefully into a cylindrical shape, creating an interplay between openness and containment.
The sleek surface of the powder coated steel gleams under light. Shifting from soft matte tones to reflective highlights as the viewer moves around it. This changing surface quality brings the sculpture to life, allowing it to breathe and shimmer like rippling water or flowing fabric. Jones uses the rigidity of steel not to impose stillness, but to evoke motion, each curve and angle suggesting unfolding energy and fluid transformation.
Moreover, the fanned structure draws the eye upward and inward at once, encouraging exploration from multiple viewpoints. The viewer experiences both the solidity of the material and the illusion of weightless expansion. The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 2 people, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
