Triangulation Station 91 by Wilfred Pritchard, Stainless Steel, Glass, Edition 1 of 2, cm high by cm wide by cm deep, sculpture

Triangulation Station 91 by Wilfred Pritchard is an abstract stainless steel and glass sculpture, edition 1 of 2, standing under 70 cm in height. The work presents a geometric pyramid of stacked glass spheres, arranged in a triangular formation. Each ball carries its own individuality: most are clear, though subtle colour variations run through several, creating moments of contrast. Within the glass, tiny bubbles appear suspended, giving the impression of captured breath or frozen movement.

The precision of the stacked formation speaks to order and balance. With the organic quality of the spheres and their inner imperfections introduces a natural rhythm. This tension between structure and fluidity lies at the heart of the piece. The polished stainless steel base anchors the composition with a cool, reflective strength. It mirrors and amplifies the luminosity of the glass, while also underscoring the sculpture’s engineered clarity.

As light filters through the spheres, it refracts and scatters, producing shifting tones and subtle shadows. The piece changes with its environment, offering new perspectives with each viewpoint. Pritchard’s use of industrial materials, tempered with delicate transparency, draws attention to the harmony of contrast—hardness and fragility, clarity and distortion, order and chance.

Triangulation Station 91 stands as both object and experience, inviting the viewer to pause and consider how light, form, and material interact.
