Coat by Carole Waller is a mixed-media sculpture measuring 200cm high by 80cm wide. The piece combines glass, resin, and silk-viscose cloth to create a layered and abstract visual effect.
A curved glass panel dominates the front, its surface streaked with vibrant reds, yellows, and subtle blends, creating movement and energy. Behind the glass, a cloth features a barely visible figure. The figure remains abstract, with no defined features, yet the human form is still recognisable. This layering adds depth, as the glass both conceals and reveals the figure behind it.
The interplay of materials highlights contrasts between transparency and opacity. The smooth, reflective glass contrasts with the soft texture of the cloth, while the painted streaks add dynamism. The resin binds the layers together, unifying the elements while allowing each to retain its distinct quality.
The sculpture invites viewers to move around it, revealing different angles and shifting perceptions of the hidden figure. The bright glass streaks interact with light, creating a changing, lively presence in the space.
Overall, Coat merges abstraction with subtle figurative hints. Waller balances colour, material, and form to craft a visually rich and engaging work that plays with visibility, depth, and perception.
Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
