Sail by Frederic Chevarin, Portuguese Marble, Unique, 65cm high by 69cm wide by 48cm deep, Abstract sculpture, Pink Marble
Sail by Frederic Chevarin is a unique abstract sculpture carved from Portuguese pink marble. Measuring 65cm high, 69cm wide, and 48cm deep, it evokes the elegance and grace of a sail in motion, or perhaps the delicate unfolding of a petal or shell.
Smooth, curving lines flow across the surface, guiding the eye in soft arcs that suggest movement and lightness. The form lifts gently from its base, creating a sense of rising or unfurling, as though catching wind or blooming open. This upward motion gives the piece an airy, almost weightless presence despite its solid stone composition.
The pink marble brings warmth and a natural luminosity to the sculpture. Subtle veins and shifts in tone within the stone enhance the organic feel, adding depth and variation. Depending on the angle of light, the marble’s polished surface glows with gentle highlights and shadows, further emphasizing the sculpture’s fluid form.
Sail reflects Chevarin’s sensitivity to material and form. He balances strength with softness, clarity with ambiguity. The result is a serene, tactile work that invites close attention and interpretation, an abstract expression of nature’s elegance, motion, and stillness all at once.
