Roosky by Phillip Medley is an abstract welded steel sculpture, measuring 100cm high, 65cm wide, and 90cm deep. The piece takes the form of a pot, tipped on its side. Its structure is built from cut steel rods and shaped sheets of metal, skilfully merged to create a cohesive, dynamic form.
The pot remains open at its base, allowing the viewer to see how the elements fall and connect beneath it. Additional steel supports hold the structure upright, giving it balance while emphasizing the sense of controlled chaos. Each metal piece has its own character; some are smoothed and refined, while others retain a rugged, raw texture. The welding between elements remains visible, adding to the industrial, handcrafted quality of the work.
The steel has a rich, warm brown colour, with natural variations that enhance the overall depth and texture. Light catches the smooth surfaces, creating subtle reflections, while the rougher areas provide contrast and a sense of weight. The combination of curved rods, flat sheets, and welded joins gives the sculpture an intricate, layered appearance.
Placed as a standalone object, Roosky commands attention from multiple angles. Its open base, flowing lines, and varied textures invite viewers to explore its form closely, following the paths of metal as they curve, intersect, and merge. The piece balances solidity with movement, transforming heavy steel into a dynamic, expressive composition.
Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 2 people, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
