Multidimensional Torso by Toma Nenov, Cement, Unique
Multidimensional Torso by Toma Nenov is a unique cement sculpture measuring approximately 110 cm high and 75 cm wide. The piece offers an abstract reimagining of the male torso, blending figurative anatomy with geometric abstraction. The central form retains the strong, recognisable structure of a man’s chest and abdomen, yet the shoulders, head, and groin dissolve into a series of sharp, angular shapes.
These geometric elements seem to slice into the figure, disrupting the natural curves with precise, faceted planes. This contrast creates a dynamic interplay between organic form and constructed structure. The cement’s surface, with its subtle texture and muted grey tone, enhances this tension. The stone evoking both the solidity of architecture and the vulnerability of the human body.
From the front, the torso feels grounded and powerful, yet the fractured areas hint at transformation or fragmentation. As the viewer moves around the sculpture, shifting perspectives reveal new alignments of form, as if the piece were caught between dimensions.
Nenov’s approach invites reflection on identity and perception. By abstracting key parts of the body, he challenges the idea of a fixed human form. Suggesting instead a body that exists simultaneously in multiple states, physical, emotional, and conceptual. Multidimensional Torso stands as a bold meeting point between realism and abstraction, where the human figure is both celebrated and redefined.
