Dragon IV by John Gratton is a unique table-top sculpture crafted from a striking combination of steel and bronze. Measuring 35cm high, 45cm wide, and 30cm deep, this captivating piece showcases a mythical dragon brought to life with rich textures and dynamic form.
The dragon’s body flows with a sense of coiled energy, its wings, tail, and features carefully detailed to evoke strength, movement, and ancient lore. The interplay between cool, industrial steel and the warm patina of bronze adds depth and contrast, highlighting the creature’s intricate contours.

Born in 1932, John Gratton started his working life as an engineer. He also served in the RAF for three years as a regular and 5 years as a reservist. He was part of the Rhodes centenary exhibition on Rhodesia (Now Zambia). Regular Service ended in 1953 and he then went back into engineering. He originally started sculpting fantasy figures when engineering work was hard to find in the recession in the late 1970’s.
