The DIY Public Sculpture Kit is a modular sculpture that can be built in hundreds of different forms. It is a 3D geometric structure consisting of angles relating to octagons, hexagons, squares, and triangles. This project is designed for collaborative making and learning.
DIY Public Sculpture Kit (PSK) – ‘Grounded’ by Francis Thorburn is a unique, modular steel sculpture that explores the relationship between form, structure, and collective creativity. Standing at 205cm high, 200cm wide, and 160cm deep, this version of the PSK presents a grounded, human-scale variation of Thorburn’s larger participatory works.
The sculpture is constructed from geometric elements featuring angles inspired by octagons, hexagons, squares and triangles. The sculpture serves as both artwork and framework. It encourages public interaction, where participants can reshape and reimagine its configuration. While the sculpture has a stable and resolved form in its current arrangement, it retains the potential for transformation.
This adaptability is at the heart of the PSK concept. Thorburn invites viewers to engage not just visually but physically and conceptually. The sculpture becomes a space for learning, building, and dialogue. It promotes architectural thinking, spatial awareness, and collaboration.

Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 2 people, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
This piece will require dismantling and rebuilding upon arrival, and may take a few days to complete. Experienced professionals handle all our sculptures, ensuring safe delivery and proper installation.
