EDUCATION:
She has a BA in Fine Art and an MA in Fine Art Textiles (Canterbury College of Art and Cranbrook Academy of Art , Detroit , USA). She teaches Contemporary Art Practice, Textiles at Bath Spa University and is an experienced tutor at West Dean.
CAREER:
Carole Waller is an internationally renowned textile artist. She makes painted clothes, and paintings on veils of cloth which become installations in three dimensional space. Recently she has developed a way of working with glass to enclose the fragile fabric membrane in a tough monumental material.
MEDIUMS USED IN WORK:
She works with a variety of media and has been exhibiting her painted clothing along with the paintings and installations in galleries internationally for the past fifteen years.
SUBJECTS OF WORK:
The imagery in her work is often figurative, sometimes abstract and of human scale. .Her latest paintings are unique large and small-scale pieces on fine cloth laminated in glass, which can be placed in a range of indoor and outdoor settings. Carole also makes large scale pieces of work. She uses glass as a laminating device. She draws inspiration from light, colour, images, memory and ideas.
