This piece by Benedict Mazuvamana is a unique Shona Springstone sculpture. The piece rises tall with sweeping, abstract curves. Each curve suggests the form of a bird in motion. Their wings stretch long and fluid, flowing outwards before meeting again at their tips.
The birds appear to fly on their sides, their bodies streamlined into the stone’s smooth arcs. As the wings connect, they form a larger silhouette—one grand bird born from many smaller ones. This merging of forms gives the sculpture harmony and rhythm, as though each bird moves with the same intent.
Mazuvamana balances abstraction and clarity with precision. The figures are not literal, yet their avian essence is unmistakable. The polish of the Springstone adds depth, catching light across every curve and ridge. Shadows fall between the overlapping shapes, echoing the movement of wings in flight.
The upward flow of the sculpture reinforces its sense of lift. The forms guide the eye higher, mirroring the grace of birds soaring together. At the same time, the connected wings ground the piece in unity, emphasizing strength through togetherness.

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 2 people, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
