Analogue by Nick Horrigan, Wood, Perspex, Unique, 242cm high by 60cm wide by 12cm deep, Abstract, Geometric, Nature sculpture, Sun, Reflection, Sun Catcher, Holey, Abstract
Analogue by Nick Horrigan is a unique oak and Perspex sculpture, standing 242 cm tall. The piece rises as a slender form, flat yet gently curved, creating a sense of quiet movement. Its surface is punctuated with many small holes, each one carefully carved and slightly different in size. These openings scatter across the wood in an irregular rhythm, almost like constellations in the night sky.
Each cavity holds transparent glass. The glass catches light, shifting its character throughout the day. At one moment, it glows brightly, and at another, it seems muted and subtle. This play between solid oak and clear glass gives the sculpture its energy. The weight of the wood contrasts sharply with the fragility of the glass, yet together they form a single harmonious work.
The curvature of the form is important. It softens the tall, narrow shape and directs the viewer’s gaze upward. The smooth rise of the oak suggests growth, while the scattered glass points invite closer inspection. The organic irregularity of the holes contrasts with the clean flat surface of the wood, highlighting the dialogue between order and randomness.
Overall, Analogue feels both natural and constructed. The oak speaks of permanence, while the glass inserts add lightness and fragility. Together, they create a sculpture that is minimal, precise, and deeply engaging.
