Darby and Jones

EARLY LIFE:
Darby & Jones is the result of Gavin Darby and Garry Jones linking their skills to create interesting and entertaining sculptures. Gavin Darby was never very arty at school and started his working life in catering then from this he joined the Civil Service working for the Insolvency Service which he found very interesting. After acquiring an old steel narrow boat which needed renovating Gavin decided to learn welding at evening classes. Whilst in the workshop he took a piece of copper pipe and make it into a bird, everyone loved it, that’s where his artistic spark took off. In 2006 Gavin made the brave move to leave his paid job and strike out on his own. 15 years later he’s on studio number 4!
