Dialogue by Ann Vrielinck, Bronze, Signed and Numbered Edition 20 of 75, 45cm high, 51cm wide, 16cm deep, People, Team, Sculpture

Dialogue by Ann Vrielinck is a tabletop sized bronze figurative, abstract sculpture of five people holding or poles. Suitable for indoor display. It is similar and more accessible than the larger piece by the same artist titled “Team Spirit”

This piece reduces human exchange to a few essential elements: upright bodies, slight variations in stance, and the space between them. By avoiding individual features, the figures operate as stand-ins for collective behaviour rather than specific characters, directing attention to interaction itself rather than personality.

The use of bronze lends physical weight and permanence to an otherwise transient activity. Conversation is momentary, but here it is given lasting form, suggesting that dialogue leaves traces even after words disappear.

The vertical elements associated with each figure introduce rhythm and separation at the same time. They can be read as markers of individual presence within a group, creating a balance between autonomy and cohesion. The spacing and alignment imply a quiet exchange, one shaped as much by pauses and proximity as by speech.

Because of its modest scale, the sculpture encourages close viewing. The piece invites reflection on everyday forms of exchange; how people gather, hold their ground, and negotiate meaning together. In this sense, the work functions less as a depiction of dialogue than as a condensed model of it.
