A Thousand Times by Mark Goodchild is a unique abstract sculpture that stands 130 cm high, 87 cm wide, and 57 cm deep. Constructed from digger parts mounted on a wooden base, it transforms industrial remnants into an intricate and striking composition.
The metal components link together in a continuous line, their shapes and angles guiding the eye outward from the centre. As the structure expands, the parts arrange themselves into a star-like formation. This radiating design gives the sculpture an energetic and directional presence, as though the form is reaching out in every direction at once.
At the very heart of the piece sits a perfectly formed spherical void. This open centre contrasts with the solidity of the surrounding metal, creating a visual pause in the otherwise busy geometry. The negative space becomes as significant as the sculpture’s physical material, inviting viewers to consider what is absent as much as what is present.
The weathered surfaces of the digger parts retain traces of their working past, scratches, dents, and patina, adding texture and history to the work. The sturdy wooden base grounds the dynamic form, offering stability while subtly framing the composition.

Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
