Winged Seed Pod by Arei Mar presents a graceful blend of nature and symbolism carved from Shona opal stone. The sculpture takes the form of a curved seed pod, its body wrapping smoothly into an enclosed seed shape. From its side, a single wing rises upward, stretching as if ready to catch a breeze. The wing brings motion to the piece, appearing to lift the pod forward into a new beginning.
Although the carving focuses on simplified forms, the wing still carries subtle feather lines. These light marks suggest texture without interrupting the sculpture’s flowing rhythm. The pod remains rounded and uninterrupted, giving a sense of protection and quiet strength. Together, the two elements create a balance between containment and release, rest and movement.
The stone itself plays a key role in the composition. The opal’s natural greens shine through the polished surface, adding depth and a glowing organic quality. Most of the sculpture remains smooth and reflective, yet the feathers stand apart with a matte finish and faint white tones. This contrast gently highlights the wing, emphasizing its role in carrying the seed toward growth.

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
