Leaf Bird Bath by Munyaradzi Mupindiko is a unique Shona Springstone sculpture, measuring 12cm high, 70cm wide, and 40cm deep. The sculpture takes the form of a bird bath in the shape of a leaf. The outer surface of the stone remains rough and rugged, while the interior is carefully carved to reveal a simplified leaf shape.

A prominent ridge runs through the middle of the leaf, dipping into the surrounding rock to form the bird bath’s bowl. This ridge adds depth and structure, making the piece feel both natural and dynamic. Meanwhile, the leaf itself is smoothed and polished, contrasting with the rough, uncarved stone around it. This contrast directs attention to the polished surface and highlights the deep black color of the Springstone.

The rough texture of the surrounding rock adds an earthy feel, creating a grounded presence. At the same time, the polished leaf captures light, creating a visual balance between the two textures. This interplay between smooth and rough surfaces enhances the sculptural experience, drawing the viewer’s focus to both the craftsmanship and the material’s natural beauty.

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
