The sculpture Wanderer by Graeme Lougher is a life-size figurative work depicting a woman walking forward. The figure appears to be travelling, captured mid-stride as she moves gently ahead. She wears a dress or nightie with her hair falling forward. Her hair partly hides her face and adds a sense of mystery to the piece. The slight forward lean of her body helps convey the feeling that the figure is passing through the space rather than standing still.
The folds of the clothing are carefully sculpted and flow naturally around the body. Creating soft lines and realistic drapery that emphasise movement. The stance of the figure and the subtle tilt of her posture suggest a quiet, solitary journey. Although the sculpture itself is still, the positioning of the legs make it appear as though she has just taken a step and will continue walking.
The sculpture is made from bronze resin. This is a composite material that combines bronze powder with resin. Creating a durable surface while retaining the appearance and texture of bronze. The turquoise blue-green patina add to the calmness of the sculpture and make it stand out in a woodland or outdoor setting. Because it is life-size, when placed in a garden or outdoor location it can feel almost like encountering a real person moving through the landscape. The calm posture give the work a contemplative atmosphere. Often leading viewers to interpret it as representing themes of travel, solitude, and quiet reflection.

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
