Pair of Stone Wild Boars on Plinths by Mike Triton, Stone, Edition Open, Tallest Boar 203cm high by 170cm wide by 130cm deep, sculpture
Pair of Stone Wild Boars on Plinths by Mike Triton is an open edition stone sculpture, with the tallest boar measuring 203cm high, 170cm wide, and 130cm deep. The piece depicts two wild boars resting on separate plinths, their forms relaxed and natural.
Each boar sits casually on its side, evoking a sense of calm and quiet presence. The sculptor captures the characteristic features of wild boars, the broad snouts, curved tusks, and muscular bodies, while maintaining a sense of understated realism. The stone’s texture adds depth, emphasizing the rugged, earthy quality of the animals’ forms.
The composition uses height and proportion to convey a feeling of dominance tempered by stillness. One boar, taller and more imposing, draws the eye, while the second, slightly smaller, provides balance and contrast. Together, they create a visual dialogue between strength and repose.
The plinths elevate the boars, giving them prominence and a sense of monumentality. Light plays across the stone surfaces, highlighting curves and contours and emphasizing the naturalistic detail of the sculptures.
Despite the scale, the work communicates intimacy and familiarity with the creatures it portrays. The casual poses invite viewers to observe quietly, appreciating both the physicality and the personality of these wild animals.
