Little Drinker by David Goode, Bronze, Edition 28 of 200, 60cm high by 32cm wide by 16cm deep, Fantasy sculpture.

This piece by David Goode captures the mischievous essence of a goblin with remarkable detail. Standing proudly, the goblin is caught in a moment of playful whimsy, slyly sipping from a leaf he uses as a drinking vessel. His eyes glance to the side with a twinkle, conveying mischief and cunning. He appears ready to spring into a prank or a secret adventure at any moment.

With lips pursed in anticipation, the goblin leans slightly forward, fully absorbed in his clandestine act. Goode carefully sculpts the folds and contours of the leaf, creating a realistic cradle for the goblin’s drink. This attention to detail heightens the sense of life within the piece, making viewers feel as if they have stumbled upon a private, magical scene.

Adding to his roguish charm, a small knife peeks from his pocket, hinting at his readiness for unexpected escapades. The knife functions both as a tool and a symbol of the goblin’s cleverness and resourcefulness. Despite his small stature, the figure radiates confidence and charisma. The bronze medium enhances the sculpture’s textures and expressions, capturing the goblin’s cheeky demeanor flawlessly.

Whether displayed in a whimsical garden or an indoor setting, Little Drinker delights viewers, drawing them into a world of goblin mischief. In typical Goode fashion, every detail is executed with meticulous precision. Since 1988, when he became the youngest sculptor ever offered a position at London’s Madame Tussauds, Goode has traveled worldwide for sittings with iconic figures such as Freddie Mercury, Joan Collins, Madonna, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ronald Reagan, and Yasser Arafat. This experience, combined with his imaginative skill, shines through in Little Drinker, making it both enchanting and masterfully crafted.
