Isness by Janis Ridley is a signed and numbered bronze sculpture from an edition of nine, standing 89 cm high and 55 cm wide. The piece captures a nude female figure bending backward in an expressive and abstract pose.
The woman’s form stretches gracefully, yet the movement is stylized and angular. Her body bends sharply at the waist, creating bold, geometric lines that contrast with the natural softness of the human figure. As she leans back, her head tilts downward, gazing toward the ground, while her feet balance delicately on tiptoes. This creates a dynamic sense of tension, as though she hovers between strength and surrender.
Her arms remain folded close to her chest, emphasizing the dramatic arc of her body. The pose highlights the curvature of her form, guiding the viewer’s eye along the continuous flow from her toes to the crown of her head. Despite its abstraction, the sculpture retains an undeniable sense of grace and human emotion.
The bronze surface is smooth yet not perfect. With small divots and subtle textural variations add a tactile quality, reminding viewers of the artist’s hand. These imperfections give the figure warmth and vitality, breaking the idealized polish often seen in traditional bronzes.

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
