Diving Figure by Stella Shawzin, Bronze, 125cm high by 76cm wide by 41cm deep , Body, Figurative, People, Water Feature sculpture
This piece is a dynamic bronze sculpture measuring 125 cm high, 76 cm wide, and 41 cm deep. The piece captures a male figure diving headfirst, suspended in mid-air. One arm stretches forward while the other flows back, and his legs kick up behind him. His head tilts slightly forward, directing the gaze toward his intended dive.
The figure balances on the outstretched hand, angled downward to suggest movement and gravity. Shawzin sculpts the body with anatomical precision, highlighting muscles and natural curves, while leaving the face minimal and abstract. Lumps and bumps across the surface add texture and energy, enhancing the sense of motion.
The form is smoothed yet retains a tactile quality, allowing shadows to emphasize contours. The light grey bronze contributes to a subtle, refined finish that emphasizes the figure’s fluidity.
Overall, the sculpture conveys motion, balance, and tension. The composition freezes a fleeting moment, capturing the strength and elegance of the human body in action. Through careful detailing, Shawzin combines realism with abstraction, producing a visually compelling study of athletic grace and suspended movement.
