This piece by Sean Crampton is a striking bronze sculpture, edition 2 of 12. It measures 33cm high, 42cm wide, and 18cm deep. The piece depicts a nude female figure caught in a moment of raw motion. She crawls low to the ground, one knee bent under her while the other leg extends back. Her spine arches gently, suggesting both effort and grace.
Her right arm reaches out and upwards, fingers spread wide as if grasping for something just out of reach. The tilt of her head follows the line of the arm, drawing the eye along her elegant neck and out towards her open hand. There’s tension in her posture, yet also a sense of quiet determination.
Crampton’s bronze finish adds warmth and depth to the figure’s smooth curves. Light slides along her shoulders, back, and thighs, highlighting the careful detail in muscle and bone. Though small in scale, the sculpture feels alive. Each line of her pose speaks of yearning and forward motion.
The title, Bride of Avebury, ties her to ancient places and timeless rituals. It hints at myths buried in the stones of Avebury, stories of devotion, passage, or sacrifice. The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
