Three Peaks by Prosper Katanda, Stone, Unique, 120cm high by 77cm wide by 45cm deep, All Sculpture, Body, Classical, Female, Figurative, Nude, People, Women sculpture
Three Peaks by Prosper Katanda is a powerful yet graceful abstract sculpture carved from natural stone. Standing 120cm high, 77cm wide, and 45cm deep, this unique piece features three elegantly tapered points that rise and curve upward, forming a trio of dynamic peaks.
Each peak flows seamlessly from the base, their arcs echoing the contours of mountain ranges or waves. The lines are smooth and deliberate, creating a sense of upward motion and balance. While the sculpture appears delicate in form, the weight and strength of the stone give it a grounding presence. This contrast between lightness and solidity makes the piece visually compelling.
The stone’s surface is subtly polished, revealing natural textures and tonal variations that shift with the light. As you move around it, the sculpture’s curves and shadows change, offering new perspectives from every angle. Moreover, its abstract nature invites interpretation, some may see mountains, others a symbolic gesture of aspiration or growth.
Three Peaks works beautifully as an outdoor focal point or an indoor centrepiece. It blends organic form with sculptural precision, reflecting Katanda’s deep connection to material and form. This is a sculpture that speaks softly but resonates deeply, inviting contemplation and appreciation over time.
Influenced by Zimbabwe’s renowned abstract sculptors such as the late Brighton Sango, Prosper Katanda has risen to prominence as the foremost abstract sculptor in Zimbabwe today. His sleek, repetitive forms echo the patterns of sound waves. Marking some of the most contemporary creations emerging from Zimbabwean artistry. Prosper currently operates from the prestigious studio of Dominic Benhura in Harare. His work has garnered international acclaim, showcased across exhibitions in Europe and North America.
