Rocking Boat – A Meeting of Minds by William Harling, Iron Resin, 204 cm (w) x 107 cm (h)
Rocking Boat is a monumental abstract sculpture by William Harling, crafted in iron resin and striking in both scale and symbolism. The work features two stylised heads balanced on a gently curved, boat-like structure, an elegant form that evokes motion, dialogue, and the delicate balance of human connection.
Minimalist in design yet rich in metaphor, the piece suggests a quiet exchange between two figures. The boat-like curve introduces a sense of movement and fluidity, reflecting the shifting dynamics of thought, conversation, and understanding. It becomes a vessel for ideas, emotions, and the silent yet powerful currents of shared experience.
The choice of iron resin adds both weight and texture, grounding the sculpture in the real while allowing its abstract form to speak to universal themes. Despite its simplicity, Rocking Boat resonates with complexity, capturing the essence of mutual contemplation, cooperation, and the fragile art of staying in sync.
