Propeller Flowers by Lata Upadhyaya is a unique abstract sculpture made from bronze, aluminium, and steel, standing 220 cm tall. The piece features three large flowers, each composed of four rounded, short propeller blades forming the petals. At the centre of each flower, a solid hub holds the blades in place, giving the impression of mechanical yet organic growth.
The flowers’ stems are long tubular structures, bent slightly to angle each head differently. This variation creates movement and rhythm, as if a gentle breeze lifts and tilts the blossoms. The combination of metals adds subtle contrasts in tone and texture. Bronze brings warmth, aluminium adds lightness, and steel provides strength, anchoring the composition.
The design balances abstraction with recognizability. While the flowers are clearly inspired by natural forms, the use of propellers transforms them into something industrial and modern. The mechanical aesthetic contrasts with the organic curves, giving the sculpture energy and a dynamic presence.
Overall, Propeller Flowers invites viewers to explore both the form and the material. The angled stems draw the eye upward, while the propeller petals catch light and shadow, adding depth. Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
