This piece is a figurative bronze sculpture. It captures the energy and vulnerability of a new born baby in a striking pose.
The infant lies on its back yet balances upright on one foot, giving the figure a sense of movement and tension. Both arms reach upward, while one leg is lifted as the baby cries out. The sculptor emphasizes anatomical accuracy, with delicate shaping of the head, limbs, and torso.
Certain areas of the back and limbs are intentionally cut away, revealing the hollow interior. The edges of these openings are jagged, adding contrast to the smooth surfaces and creating a sense of fragility. Despite these voids, the figure remains fully readable and expressive.
The bronze surface is smoothed and polished, highlighting the sculpted details. Muscles, folds, and tiny features of the baby’s body are clearly visible, while the deep turquoise colouring enhances the piece’s depth and visual impact.
Overall, Newborn balances realism with abstraction. The pose, cut-out sections, and vivid bronze finish combine to convey both the strength and delicacy of new life, making the sculpture both emotive and visually captivating.

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
We can provide a suitable sculpture plinth for an extra charge, please enquire for details. Experienced professionals handle all our sculptures, ensuring safe delivery and proper installation.
This piece is not currently on display at the park, although visitors can request a viewing. Additional images, videos, measurements, and details can be provided upon request.
