Mycelium Major by Abby Martin is a commanding sculpture that transforms a single mushroom into an oversized monument to nature’s hidden networks. Crafted from iron resin, this edition piece stands 196cm high, 170cm wide, and 110cm deep, large enough to feel like you could stand beneath its cap and imagine a forest floor above you.
At first glance, the sculpture’s raw, earthy texture draws you in. The cap is broad and uneven, brimming with tiny grooves and pits that echo the roughness of bark or ancient stone. It feels weathered yet alive. The sturdy stem rises thick and strong, carrying the weight of the cap while grounding the piece in a powerful, almost architectural stance.
From different angles, you see new details: subtle ridges flow down the stem, echoing the hidden pathways of real mycelium beneath the forest floor. These pathways, though unseen in nature, connect entire ecosystems. Martin brings this idea to the surface, celebrating the unseen threads that bind life together.
The iron resin’s muted, natural tones enhance the sculpture’s organic presence. Light and shadow shift across the rough surface, changing its mood as the day moves.

Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 2 people, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
We can provide a suitable sculpture plinth for an extra charge, please enquire for details. Experienced professionals handle all our sculptures, ensuring safe delivery and proper installation.
