Modern Sculpture by Anon Unknown, Stone & Glass, Unique, cm high by cm wide by cm deep, sculpture
Modern Sculpture is a unique work of stone and glass, standing under 70 cm tall. At first glance, it appears as a raw, uncut rock. Yet the artist has altered it with two deliberate horizontal breaks, slicing the solid mass into three separate sections.
Between these cuts, thin strips of glass take their place. The glass is sharp, spiked, and translucent. Light runs across its jagged edges, shifting as the viewer moves. The contrast is immediate. Heavy, dark stone meets fragile, shimmering glass. Solid weight collides with delicate energy.
Because of this, the sculpture feels both fractured and whole. The breaks do not weaken the form. Instead, they become points of focus, turning absence into presence. The glass fills the gaps like veins of light threading through the rock. As a result, the piece suggests movement within stillness, and energy within mass.
The textures heighten this tension. The stone remains rough and unyielding, grounding the sculpture with its natural surface. In contrast, the glass edges catch and scatter light, creating a sense of fragility and motion. One material anchors, while the other disrupts and transforms.
Through these contrasts, the sculpture speaks of resilience and change. It shows how rupture can create renewal, and how balance emerges between strength and vulnerability. Compact in scale but powerful in spirit, it asks the viewer to look closer, to notice how opposites can coexist in a single form.
