Lesotho Figure III by Stella Shawzin stands as a striking bronze sculpture that immediately commands attention through its bold, abstract language. Two skeletal, elongated figures rise from a single shared body, and their fused forms create an intense visual dialogue. Instead of drifting into passivity, the piece leans forward, both literally and emotionally, inviting the viewer to confront its unusual harmony of unity and tension.
Although the figures appear skeletal, they also suggest an alien elegance. It’s as if they belong to a realm where anatomy follows emotional logic rather than biological rules. Their limbs stretch with deliberate distortion, and their faces turn toward each other with an undeniable sense of purpose. Because they share the same body, neither can move independently, and this interdependence introduces a powerful narrative about connection, conflict, and coexistence. Their fused torso anchors them in place, yet their upward reach hints at movement, aspiration, and transformation.
As the eye travels across the sculpture’s smooth bronze surfaces, the contrast between solid mass and airy negative space becomes increasingly compelling. The voids between limbs feel just as expressive as the forms themselves. They guide the viewer’s gaze through a continuous loop of motion. The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
