Large Knot by Victor Matafi is a unique Shona springstone sculpture standing 200 cm high, 60 cm wide, and 55 cm deep. Its form winds and twists upward in a continuous motion, much like a ribbon caught in an eternal loop. The sculpture’s curves are bold yet graceful, each turn flowing naturally into the next, creating a sense of endless movement.
Matafi uses the dense, dark surface of springstone to enhance the sculpture’s visual weight. The smooth, polished sections catch the light, while more subtle transitions between curves add depth and shadow. This play between highlight and darkness emphasizes the work’s dimensionality, making it feel alive as the viewer circles around it.
The twisting form suggests both strength and flexibility. It anchors itself firmly at the base, yet rises with an almost weightless elegance. Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 2 people, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
