Infinitude by Tonderai Sowa, Springstone, Unique, 85cm high by 45cm wide by 42cm deep, Abstract sculpture
Infinitude by Tonderai Sowa unfolds from a single block of rich black Springstone, rising 85 cm high, 45 cm wide, and 42 cm deep. From the outset, the sculpture asserts its presence through clarity of line and control of mass. Rather than dividing the stone into separate elements, Sowa draws one continuous movement through it; as the eye follows this path, the form twists, curves, and loops back into itself, generating a quiet but persistent rhythm.
The composition remains compact, yet it never feels contained. Instead, each curve leads seamlessly into the next, and with every turn the sculpture reveals a new relationship between interior space and outer surface. Light travels across the polished black stone, gathering along its rounded edges before slipping into recessed channels, thereby heightening the sense of depth and motion. As a result, the work appears to shift subtly with the viewer’s position.
Although abstract, Infinitude carries a clear emotional resonance. The single, flowing line suggests continuity and interconnectedness, while the balanced weight of the stone anchors the piece in calm assurance. In this way, Sowa transforms solid Springstone into an expression of perpetual movement, an elegant meditation on unity, harmony, and the enduring cycle of form returning to itself.
