Harmony by Sign Muzika, Springstone, Unique, 114cm high by 40cm wide by 40cm deep, sculpture
Harmony by Sign Muzika is a unique Shona sculpture carved from springstone. Measuring 114 cm high, 40 cm wide, and 40 cm deep, it explores fluidity and balance through bold, abstract design.
The sculpture is defined by twisting, curling forms that loop and flow around one another. Each curve seems to rise and fold back, creating a rhythmic interplay of positive and negative space. The smooth, polished springstone surface reflects light across its flowing contours, giving the impression of movement caught in stillness. In contrast, subtle areas of texture provide depth and variation, reminding the viewer of the raw natural stone from which the piece is carved.
The interwoven shapes suggest themes of balance, unity, and connection. They curl inwards and outwards, appearing both rooted and free. This interplay captures a sense of harmony between opposing forces, stability and motion, strength and delicacy. Viewed from different angles, the forms shift and transform, offering new relationships and interpretations with each perspective.
The work stands firmly on its base, rising upward with a sense of growth and energy. Its looping lines feel organic, as if echoing natural patterns found in vines, waves, or wind-carved rock.
Through Harmony, Muzika channels the Shona sculptural tradition of blending abstraction with spirituality. The piece radiates a quiet strength while also carrying a lyrical sense of flow, encouraging reflection on balance within both nature and human life.
