This piece by Simon Chidharara is a unique Shona cobalt stone sculpture, measuring 70cm high, 70cm wide, and 16cm deep. At its centre, an abstract man and woman press their faces together. Their eyes remain closed, suggesting a quiet, intimate moment. The forms curve and flow toward one another, merging into a single, continuous shape.
From the centre, the bodies and hair extend outward in sweeping arcs. These curves remain loosely defined, giving the piece an abstract quality. Meanwhile, the faces stay smooth and polished, drawing the eye to their emotional connection. The outer edges are left mostly unpolished, yet smoothed enough to avoid roughness. This contrast emphasizes the core intimacy while maintaining the natural character of the stone.
As the curves rise and fall, the sculpture encourages the eye to travel along its form. First, it follows the faces, then moves outward along the flowing shapes of the body and hair. The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
