Freya, Bronze, Edition open, 100cm high, 240cm wide, 67cm deep, Figurative, Animals and Birds, Horse, Green, Sculpture
Freya is an open-edition bronze sculpture measuring 100 cm high, 240 cm wide, and 67 cm deep. Finished in a rich green patina, the piece presents a strikingly elegant horse with elongated proportions. The figure stretches horizontally, emphasising grace and poise.
The horse’s neck curves in a sweeping arc, creating a fluid line that guides the eye from its back down toward its face. Its mane flows forward, partially covering the head in a gesture that feels both mysterious and intimate. This subtle concealment draws attention to the arch of the neck and the texture of the mane, adding layers of visual interest.
Standing firmly, the horse’s slender legs rest upon two separate plinths. This arrangement introduces a sense of separation and balance, almost as if the figure bridges a space between two points. The plinths also lift the sculpture, enhancing its presence and inviting viewers to walk around and explore its shifting perspectives.
The green patina enriches the bronze surface, softening its metallic sheen while adding depth and tonal variation. It also imbues the work with a timeless, almost ancient quality.
Through Freya, the artist celebrates the beauty of the horse’s form while pushing it toward abstraction. The elongated lines, flowing curves, and deliberate placement on dual plinths create a sculpture that is both anchored and ethereal, merging strength with elegance.
