Dragonfly by Antanas Brazdys, Stainless Steel, Unique, 112cm high by 120cm wide by 142cm deep, Animals and Birds, Nature sculpture

Dragonfly by Antanas Brazdys is a unique stainless steel sculpture measuring 112 cm high, 120 cm wide, and 142 cm deep. The work reduces the form of a dragonfly into five reflective, geometric elements. Two oval shapes create the elongated body, while two broad, curved pieces suggest the wings. A square base anchors the sculpture, with a central cube connecting all components together.

Despite its minimalism, the piece conveys the elegance of the insect with clarity. The ovals stretch in balance, while the curved wings sweep outward to create a strong sense of symmetry. The polished steel surfaces catch and reflect light, giving the work a shifting quality as the viewer moves around it. From some angles, the sculpture feels mechanical and precise; from others, it takes on the delicacy of the dragonfly it represents.

The square base and cube provide stability but also act as part of the composition, highlighting Brazdys’ interest in geometric form. The sculpture is not literal, yet its proportions and arrangement make the dragonfly unmistakable. This blend of abstraction and recognition is central to its appeal.

Dragonfly carries both lightness and strength. Its mirrored surfaces link it to its surroundings, while its clean lines emphasize order and clarity. As a result, the piece works equally well as a striking outdoor statement or a contemporary interior centrepiece.
