Childs Chair by Ben Nicolas stands 85 cm high and measures 74 cm wide. This unique stoneware sculpture presents an abstract chair. Its form hints at natural shapes, suggesting a playful yet organic design.
The surface features a beautiful palette of pastel colours. Blues, greens, purples, creams, and touches of gold flow across the piece. As light hits the sculpture, the colours shimmer and blend, giving it depth and movement. Moreover, the combination of tones adds a sense of whimsy and delicacy.
The chair’s abstract structure encourages the viewer to explore its curves and angles. Each contour appears thoughtfully shaped, balancing solidity with elegance. The organic forms transition smoothly from one part of the sculpture to another. Consequently, the work feels alive, almost as if it could grow or shift.
Ben Nicolas uses the stoneware material to emphasize texture. The surface is both smooth and subtly varied, enhancing the tactile quality. Additionally, the pastel glazes highlight the piece’s naturalistic inspiration while maintaining an abstract sensibility.
Ultimately, Childs Chair blends imagination, colour, and form. Through careful craftsmanship, it transforms a functional object into a decorative sculpture. The piece invites viewers to engage with it visually and emotionally, celebrating both artistry and the beauty of natural, abstract shapes.
