Steve Boss
Born
Steve Boss was born in 1970 in Leicester, and grew up in South Leicestershire.
Early Life
He developed an early interest in art and design during his upbringing in the countryside, later studying Art and Design at Lutterworth Grammar School.
Education
Steve is mostly a self-taught sculptor, though he received formal schooling in art and design during his secondary education.
Career
He began his career in the late 1980s as an apprentice jeweller, later working extensively with pewter to create intricate miniature designs. He went on to spend 17 years as an in-house sculptor with Country Artists before becoming a freelance sculptor and model-maker. With over 25 years of experience in the fine art and giftware industries, he continues to work professionally as a sculptor.
Materials
He has worked with pewter early in his career and now primarily produces bronze sculptures.
Style & Subject
His work is inspired by the natural world, particularly wildlife, and often reflects his rural upbringing through detailed bronze sculptures of animals and natural forms.
