He began sculpting whilst he was sitting his O Levels. He worked along side Joe Mutasa as his assistant at The Chapungu Sculpture Park in Msasa, Harare. After attending a workshop given by two Japanese sculptors Rufaro felt motivated and Inspired and his career took off, he had a very successful exhibition in Belgium where all of his work was sold and many orders taken. Rufaro won many awards. . His sculptures can be found in many private and public exhibitions.
