EDUCATION:
Born and raised in Bonnyrigg, UK. From a very young age, McManus developed a strong passion for wood and began carving straight from school, establishing a career that has spanned over 30 years.

CAREER:
McManus has built an extensive career as a sculptor working primarily with native hardwoods, exhibiting widely throughout Scotland and England as well as internationally in the USA, the Netherlands and France. He has completed numerous public and private commissions in Britain and internationally.

MEDIUMS USED IN WORK:
Working predominantly in native hardwoods, McManus creates sculptures that preserve and enhance the wood’s natural beauty. He also works in stainless steel and glass, particularly for large-scale public commissions.

SUBJECTS OF WORK:
Conceptual, figurative, water feature sculptures, animals and birds, abstract, floral and kinetic sculpture.

EXHIBITIONS:
He has exhibited in the UK, USA, Netherlands and France. Major commissions include the Flame and Spiral sculptures for the Women’s Peace Camp Memorial Garden, Greenham Common, Berkshire, UK, and a stainless steel and glass sculpture for Crown House, City Road, London, UK.
