PARENTS:
Both his parents passed away when he was a child.
EARLY LIFE:
Ishmael was taught to sculpt by his brother Solomon.
EDUCATION:
Ishmael left school at 16, and his options of further education were limited.
CAREER:
Ishmael worked with Ignatius Zhuwakiyi, a well-known young artist, and then a famous first generation Shona artist Sylvester Mubayi also helped and inspired him in the early days.
AWARDS:
Finalist in the 3D visual arts category in 2008 National Arts Merit Awards.
