BORN:
Holmegaard Glassworks was established in 1825 in Denmark.

EARLY HISTORY:
Holmegaard Glassworks was founded after the death of Count Christian Danneskiold, whose widow continued his plans to establish a glassmaking enterprise after royal permission was eventually granted. The glassworks was built on marshland, chosen for its ability to supply the fuel needed to operate the glass ovens.

LOCATION:
The glassworks is based in Holmegaard, where it became one of Denmark’s most important historic glass producers.

CAREER / DEVELOPMENT:
The glassworks became known for producing both mouth blown and machine made glass. Over time, it developed into one of Denmark’s most respected glassmaking institutions, combining traditional craftsmanship with industrial production methods.
