EDUCATION:
Guy Stevens completed a Fine Art Painting at Chelsea School of Art in 1994. During his degree he spent much of his time developing multimedia projects, using video, photography, live performance and installation exploring the notion of ‘self’
CAREER:
In 2001, Guy discovered and taught himself to carve stone, early figurative carvings gradually gave way to more abstracted simple forms, When starting a sculpture he has a rough idea of what he wants to achieve but somewhere along the line things happen shadowy reflections and echoes of forms move in and out of focus in the stone as he works. The finished article always seems to have an unintended creature or object within it somewhere.
